Voss 5128 Outdoor Wall Light Aluminium RAL 9006 - NORLYS

Voss 5128 is a Norlys outdoor wall luminaire built as a rectangular block of cast aluminium, powder-coated in aluminium RAL 9006. Light leaves through one face only, behind a pane of clear safety glass. The body stands 18 cm high, measures 16 cm across and projects 27 cm from the wall.

What kind of light Voss 5128 gives

Norlys states a 4-degree beam aimed upwards, so the fitting sends out a single narrow shaft that runs along the wall. Of the 767 lm produced by the LED source, 55 lm leave the housing, which works out at 8,6 lm/W. This is accent light that draws a stripe up a facade, not lighting for a doorway or a flight of steps.

At 4000 K the light is neutral white, with neither a yellow nor a blue cast, so render and brickwork keep their own colour under it. Colour rendering is Ra 80 and colour spread stays within SDCM3, so several fittings on one wall light up in the same shade.

Size and mounting

The luminaire weighs 4,57 kg and stands 27 cm proud of the wall face. That is the figure to compare with the clear width of the passage where it is to hang. It fixes on two 7 mm holes spaced 100 x 80 mm apart.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 x 2,5 mm2, and the fitting can be looped through with 3 x 1,5 mm2, so a run of them goes on one circuit. The gland accepts round cable from 7 to 10,5 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class I, which means the supply circuit has to carry an earth conductor.

Build and outdoor duty

The housing is powder-coated cast aluminium, closed with clear safety glass, and sealing is handled by a silicone gasket and an EPDM gland. IP54 covers dust and splashing water from any direction, so the fitting can work on an unsheltered facade.

Impact resistance of IK06 corresponds to a 1 J blow. Norlys gives an operating range from minus 20 to plus 45 degrees Celsius, and the whole beam is directed upwards (ULOR 100 per cent).

Light source and dimming

The LED module and the electronic driver are built in and ship with the luminaire, so no lamp has to be bought. The module is not a user-replaceable part: Norlys allows replacement through professional service only, and rates the driver at 50 000 h.

The fitting dims on a trailing-edge phase dimmer, and Norlys names the Philips Xitanium TE unit for that. A leading-edge dimmer will not drive it correctly.
