Wanita is a round wall decoration 60 cm across, woven from natural plant fibres. It is built from concentric rings of fringed weave that run in to a coiled medallion at the centre, and the whole piece keeps one undyed straw tone.
How much wall it takes
The disc is 60 cm across and stands 5 cm off the wall. That is a measurement worth marking out on the wall you have in mind before you decide — a piece this size works as a single element rather than as part of a group of smaller ones.
It weighs 0.5 kg, which is what a single hook or nail in the wall will hold.
What it is made of
The manufacturer names two raw materials: gajih and sisal fibre. Both are plant-based, and the weave is left undyed, so the colour comes from the material itself rather than from a coating. The frayed edges of each ring are a deliberate part of the weave, not a finish waiting to be trimmed.
Every piece is made by hand in Indonesia. The manufacturer notes that on goods produced this way small irregularities, differences in shade and slight departures from the photograph are a property of the material rather than a fault.
Where it can hang and how to look after it
The manufacturer intends this decoration for indoor use only and asks that it be kept in a dry room: excess moisture weakens the fibres and can pull the disc out of shape. A bathroom or a covered terrace is ruled out for the same reason.
Routine cleaning needs no more than a soft brush or a cloth to lift dust from between the fibres. For heavier soiling, wipe the weave gently with a damp cloth and let it dry through completely, without soaking it.
