The Zambelis E420 is an outdoor LED wall light with a half-round profile and an aluminium body covered in vertical flutes, finished in grey-beige. It shines up and down at the same time through glazed openings at both ends, so it draws two bands of light on the wall above and below the fitting.

How much light it gives

Two built-in 3 W LED modules give 6 W and 405 lm in total. That is enough to mark an entrance, bring out the texture of a facade or light a balcony softly — not to light a whole driveway or garden. At 3000 K the light is warm white, and CRI 85 renders the colours of render, timber and plants well. The maker also specifies a colour tolerance of SDCM below 1, which means several E420 lights on one wall shine in the same shade.

The light source is integrated and cannot be replaced or bought separately, so no bulb is needed. The rated lifetime is L70B50 30,000 h — about 27 years at three hours a day. The fitting is not dimmable, so it goes on an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer.

Size and installation

The wall light is 16 cm high on a 7.6 × 9 cm base — figures to compare with the space beside a door or between windows. It is surface-mounted, with no cut-out and no recess in the wall, so it also suits a finished facade. It runs on 220–240 V mains and is protection class I, which means it must be connected to an earth conductor. No supply cable is included; the light is wired to the cable coming out of the wall.

Built for outdoor conditions

IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the light can go on an exposed wall without a canopy. Its IK05 impact rating guards against an accidental knock. Zambelis intends the E420 for facades, house entrances, balconies and terraces. The fitting carries a 3-year warranty.
