Zambelis S154 Surface Ceiling Spot GU10 max 40 W sandy black Ø6 cm

S154 is a surface-mounted ceiling spot just 6 cm across and 8.5 cm tall – an aluminium cylinder in sandy black, screwed to the ceiling surface. The manufacturer states it plainly: no cutting hole, no depth required. That is the whole difference between this fitting and a recessed downlight.

Where that helps

Needing no space above the ceiling means S154 can go where recessed fittings cannot: on a concrete slab with no suspended ceiling, under a beam, on a ceiling whose wiring runs just above the plaster, in a rented space where chasing is not allowed. At 6 cm across the cylinder is small enough that a row of them reads as a grid of points rather than a row of lamps.

A black interior, and a ring in gold

The reflector inside is finished in the same sandy black as the housing – a matt, fine-grained texture that absorbs reflections, so a switched-off fitting shows a dark aperture rather than a shiny interior. The manufacturer offers a separate aluminium reflector ring in brushed gold (code RFL G 154) that swaps that interior for a gold one. It is a genuine change of character for the whole installation at the price of an accessory – and a decision that can be taken after installation.

Light source

The fitting includes a GU10 lampholder but no bulb. Maximum lamp power is 40 W on a 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply. Since S154 has no optics of its own beyond the cylinder, the lamp sets beam angle, colour temperature, flux and colour rendering – and in an 8.5 cm deep cylinder the source sits well back, which limits glare in itself. There is no dimming function; if brightness is to be adjustable, a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer in the circuit have to provide it.

Construction and warranty

The body is aluminium, an IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry interiors, and protection class I requires an earth conductor. Gross weight 0.3 kg, package 7.5 × 7.5 × 10.5 cm. The manufacturer gives a 3-year warranty.
