LOOP CREAM S is a pendant light with a 14 cm globe of white opal glass, topped by a flat, round metal disc. The disc, the ceiling canopy and the textile-braided cord share the same soft cream shade (RAL 1015), and the disc has a smooth, matt finish. S is the smallest of three pendant sizes in the LOOP collection by the Polish manufacturer Aldex.
Size and hanging height
The disc is 28 cm across and sets the width of the light; the globe beneath it is 14 cm. The rigid part, disc and globe together, is 16 cm high. The overall height from the ceiling to the bottom of the globe is 200 cm, and the cord can be shortened, but that is a job for an electrician during installation.
Over a table it is usually shortened so that the bottom of the globe hangs 70–80 cm above the top, which puts the light on the table without shining into the eyes of people sitting there. The metal canopy is 10 cm in diameter.
Bulb and light
The fitting has one E14 lampholder, and the manufacturer allows an LED bulb of up to 10 W. The shape matters more than the wattage: the globe is closed, so Aldex recommends a slim E14 bulb no more than 10.2 cm tall. An ordinary elongated candle bulb may not fit inside the globe even though it fits the socket.
Opal glass spreads the light evenly and hides the bulb itself, so the globe glows uniformly without a bright spot. The opaque disc above it holds back part of the light heading towards the ceiling.
Where it fits
The manufacturer intends LOOP CREAM S for hanging over a dining table, as the central light in a living room, and for cafés and restaurants. The form is minimalist: a globe, a disc and a thin cord, with no ornament. The cream shade is quieter than the collection's other colours (coral, red wine, blue and pink) and does not dominate a light-coloured room.
The same collection includes larger M and L versions and the LOOP WALL sconce, so several lights in one colour can be spread across a single room.
