Argon Ravello 6166 3-light chandelier, black and brass, opal glass, E14

Ravello 6166 is a three-arm chandelier with matt opal glass shades shaped like flattened mushroom caps. The black steel frame with a textured finish hangs from a rigid rod, and the shades sit in brass-plated holders; two brass-plated rods also decorate the centre of the fitting.

Size and where to hang it

The chandelier is 62 cm tall overall, measured from the ceiling, and spans 56 cm. Because it hangs from a rigid rod, that height cannot be shortened – compare it with your own ceiling height and with the headroom you want to keep underneath. With a 56 cm arm span it fits above a standard dining table.

The round ceiling canopy is 8.5 cm across, and each shade measures 15 cm in diameter and 8 cm in height.

Bulbs and light

Each of the three arms has an E14 lampholder, and bulbs are not included – you need to buy three. The manufacturer sets a limit of 7 W per holder and recommends LED or energy-saving sources, so in practice that means E14 LED bulbs; you choose the colour of the light yourself, most often 2700–3000 K for a living room.

Matt opal glass diffuses the light and hides the shape of the bulb, so the shades glow evenly with no harsh bright spot in the middle.

Which interiors it suits

Argon describes Ravello as minimalist and modern: plain arms bent at a right angle, smooth shades and just two accents of colour – black and brass. The manufacturer intends the chandelier for living rooms, halls and corridors; it also works in a bedroom and above a dining table.

The Ravello series also includes the five-arm chandelier 2128 and the wall light 8032 in the same colours, so wall and ceiling lighting can be matched. The fitting is made in Poland and carries a two-year manufacturer's warranty.
