Dorma Wood Juta Ceiling Light 45 cm 4xE27

Dorma Wood Juta is a round flush ceiling light 45 cm across, built from two bands: light wood veneer on top and a jute weave below. A white diffuser closes the shade from underneath, and a narrow open gap runs between the two bands.

How big it is and how it mounts

At 45 cm across the fitting stands only 18 cm deep and sits tight against the ceiling, so it takes no headroom the way a pendant does — which makes it the answer in rooms where a hanging shade would come down too low.

The ceiling plate is 34 cm across and covers a standard junction box, and the mounting holes are 172 mm apart — that is the spacing to drill for if the ceiling has no fixing in place. The fitting is protection class I, so the earth wire has to be connected; in older wiring without an earth, check that before buying.

How much light it gives and which bulbs to buy

Four E27 lampholders sit under the shade and bulbs are not included — the manufacturer allows up to 15 W LED per socket. Four sources spread across 45 cm distribute light more evenly than a single bulb, and a set of roughly 800 lm each matches the brightness of four old 60 W bulbs, enough to serve as a room's main light.

Colour temperature and colour rendering depend entirely on the bulbs you buy. The fitting has no driver of its own, so dimming works only with a dimmable bulb and a dimmer in the circuit.

Materials and the rooms the manufacturer intended

The jute weave passes light — switched on, the bulbs show through as soft outlines, and part of the output escapes sideways through the gap between the bands and brightens the ceiling around the fitting. The white diffuser sends the rest straight down and hides the lampholders from below.

The shade combines fabric with plastic; the frame is painted steel and plastic.
