Gea Luce GES2361 Bollard Head, Brown, LED 12/16/20 W, 3000/4000/5000 K, IP65, Ø 12 cm — Pole Sold Separately

First, the important part: this is the bollard head alone, without the pole. Gea Luce calls it a testapalo — a round fitting 12 cm across and 11.2 cm tall with a built-in LED module, which mounts on a tube bought separately. Without one it will not stand on the ground.

A modular system: head plus tube

The tube is chosen to suit the site, in three heights — 20, 44 or 84 cm. In the brown finish that matches this head they are GES2405 (20 cm), GES2403 (44 cm) and GES2401 (84 cm). A low tube lights steps and a bed; a tall one lights a path and a driveway. The same light element serves all three.

Power and colour are chosen before installation

This is unusual: the head allows the power (12, 16 or 20 W) and the colour temperature (3000, 4000 or 5000 K) to be set — but, as the maker states plainly, before the head is finally fitted to the pole. The decision is made once, at installation, and is not changed from a switch afterwards.

How much light each combination gives

Output depends on both settings:

• 3000 K: 468 lm (12 W), 575 lm (16 W), 706 lm (20 W)
• 4000 K: 487 lm (12 W), 626 lm (16 W), 780 lm (20 W)
• 5000 K: 488 lm (12 W), 627 lm (16 W), 743 lm (20 W)

The light spreads all round, over a full 360°, through a transparent methacrylate diffuser. That means it lights the surroundings evenly rather than only the ground beneath it — along a path it gives a readable edge on both sides.

The C4 coating, and why it matters

The aluminium is powder-coated to corrosivity class C4. The maker names it explicitly for industrial areas and coastal zones. That is a real difference: most garden fittings at this price carry a coating matched to ordinary urban air, and in salt mist they start to flake after a few seasons.

The rest of the specification

IP65 — full protection against dust and against a water jet from any direction, so a hose-down is fine. Class I means a protective earth connection is required. Declared module life is 50,000 h, colour rendering CRI > 80, supply 220–240 V.
