Gea Luce GFA950N is a recessed LED downlight with a round matt-white rim and a light source set back inside the body. Both the structure and heat sink are aluminium. Its visible ceiling detail is a simple circle rather than a fitting that hangs into the room.
A light source and separate power supply are included
The fitting contains an 8 W CREE LED module, so there is no separate screw-in bulb to choose. A transformer is also included, but it is not integrated into the luminaire body. When planning the ceiling recess, account for the separate supply component as well as the downlight itself. The specified mains supply is 220–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz.
This version uses on/off operation and is not dimmable. That distinction matters when selecting the lighting controls: GFA950N is not intended for adjusting brightness with a dimmer. The manufacturer declares a source lifetime of 30,000 hours and a three-year guarantee. The operating-life figure should not be read as an equivalent guarantee period.
Neutral white light in a focused beam
The N variant provides a colour temperature of 4000 K, rather than the warm white associated with 3000 K. Its stated output is 656 lm, with a beam angle of 38°. This is direct, concentrated lighting, so the position of the illuminated surface matters when arranging the ceiling points. A single focused downlight should not be assumed to light an entire room evenly.
The recessed format can provide point lighting in living rooms, kitchens, entrance halls and corridors. It can also supplement an office or study lighting scheme. Suitability as part of that scheme does not, by itself, establish adequate illumination at a desk or other work surface.
A restrained ceiling detail
The plain circular rim and uniform matt finish suit modern and minimalist ceiling layouts. Check the manufacturer's dimensional drawing against the proposed ceiling construction before making the openings. This is an indoor recessed fitting, not a choice for exterior lighting.
