Italux Blera is a ring-shaped pendant light 40 cm across: two clear, textured plastic hoops separated by a wide gold band of metal alloy. It hangs on three thin wires from a round canopy, also in gold. The light source is a built-in LED module, so there is no bulb socket and nothing extra to buy.
Size and hanging height
The ring is 40 cm in diameter and 11.2 cm high, and the whole light including the wires is 120 cm. Subtract that figure from your own ceiling height to see how much space is left between the bottom of the ring and the floor or the tabletop. Over a dining table the lower edge usually hangs 70–80 cm above the top, and a 40 cm ring keeps its proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide.
How much light, and what colour
The 24 W LED module gives 1950 lm – more than an old 100 W bulb, so a single Blera can be the main light in a room rather than just a decoration. The textured hoops diffuse the light and do not show individual diodes.
The fitting offers three colour temperatures: 3000 K (warm white), 4000 K (neutral) and 6000 K (cool). Italux points out, however, that the colour is chosen once, before the fitting is installed, so it needs deciding in advance. Living rooms and bedrooms usually get 3000 K, kitchens and studies 4000 K. It runs on 230 V mains.
Where it fits
Blera is a modern light: a simple geometric form in which the gold metal contrasts with the irregular texture of the clear hoops. The manufacturer intends it for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, studies, hallways and children's rooms, and at 40 cm it also works directly over a table. Italux gives a 5-year warranty.
