Filano is a pendant light with three light points hung on black cables of different lengths. Each cable ends in a slim gold tube with a globe of white opal glass beneath it, and the whole cluster hangs from a round gold canopy. The fitting is made of a metal alloy and glass.
Size and where to hang it
The manufacturer gives an overall height of 150 cm, and the three globes fit within a 20 cm diameter. Subtract that height from your own ceiling height and you know how high above the floor the lowest globe will hang – and, over a 75 cm dining table, how much space is left above the top.
The globes hang at three different levels, forming a staggered composition rather than a single row. At only 20 cm across, the cluster takes up little space, so it also fits above a small table, in a hallway or over a narrow worktop.
Bulbs and light
The light has three G9 sockets, and the manufacturer allows a lamp of up to 5 W in each, conventional or LED. A 5 W limit per socket in practice means small LED G9 capsules – ordinary G9 halogen lamps draw considerably more. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the brightness and colour of the light yourself.
White opal glass diffuses the light, so no filament is visible and the globes glow evenly over their whole surface. The light can be dimmed if you use bulbs marked as dimmable together with a suitable dimmer.
Which rooms it suits
The form is modern: smooth gold tubes and plain white globes against black cables. The manufacturer lists Filano for living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, studies, children's rooms and hallways, and its room photo shows the light hanging over a dining table. Three globes at different heights also work well above a kitchen island.
