CLOE L is a pendant with an opal glass shade 40 cm across, shaped as if it had been pressed in at irregular points. The shade is milky and matt, while the ceiling rose, the stem and the shade collar are polished gold; the cable is black.
Its size and the height to hang it at
A 40 cm shade keeps good proportions over a table 80-90 cm wide. The overall height of the fitting is 203 cm on a 160 cm cable, and the manufacturer states that the length is adjustable - the drop is usually shortened so that the lower edge of the shade sits 70-80 cm above the tabletop.
Over three metres of drop is a reserve that also works under a high ceiling or above a stairwell. The manufacturer intends the fitting as a room's main light, as light over a table, or as one of a group of several hung at different heights.
The light source it needs
The fitting has one E27 lampholder and takes a lamp of up to 25 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself - read the brightness off the lumens rather than the watts, because 25 W is a holder limit and not a measure of light. For a dining room 2700-3000 K is the usual choice, a warm and slightly yellow light.
The shade is opaque and spreads the light in every direction, so the bulb never shines into the eyes of anyone sitting at the table.
Glass shaped by hand
The shades for the Cloe collection are blown by hand at the glassworks in Krosno. The manufacturer warns that each piece is therefore different and that shades may vary slightly in shape and in wall thickness - the uneven, organic form is the design's intent here rather than a deviation.
The construction combines metal with glass, the supply is standard 230 V, and the fitting is meant for dry indoor rooms.
