NORLYS Koster Pro 1831AL post-top luminaire, light grey RAL 9006, LED 17.1 W 4000 K, dimmable, for Ø50 pole

Koster Pro 1831AL is a NORLYS post-top luminaire with a 24.5 cm dome shade on a straight arm, slipped onto a Ø50 mm pole spigot. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in light grey RAL 9006, and underneath the luminaire is closed by a clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser.

Installation and size

The head is 45 cm long including the arm and 24.5 cm high, and it slides onto a Ø50 mm spigot to a depth of 80 mm. No pole is included – the manufacturer lists telescopic poles 1270, 1273 and 3011 for this luminaire – so check the spigot diameter of the pole you plan to use before buying. The luminaire weighs 2.6 kg and has a side area of 0.045 m², the figure to compare with the permitted wind load of the pole.

Power comes through a 4.2 m H05VV-F 2x1 cable run inside the pole to a junction box. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth conductor, and the manufacturer also approves it for emergency installations supplied with 176–280 V DC.

How much light, and what kind

The LED module produces 2801 lm, and 2002 lm leave the luminaire at 17.1 W, i.e. 117.1 lm/W. That is main lighting – one head lights a path or square around the pole. 4000 K is a neutral white, and CRI 70 is typical for outdoor area lighting.

The Ledil T2-M lens gives a wide, even distribution, and ULOR 0% means no light goes above the luminaire. The manufacturer calculated the illuminance for a 3.3 m mounting height. The luminaire dims with an ordinary phase dimmer, trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE).

Build and service

IP65 lets the luminaire work outdoors without cover, and IK10 is the top impact rating on that scale. The Philips Fortimo FastFlex module and the driver are built in, but a professional service can replace them, and Norlys keeps both as spare parts. L90B10 above 100,000 h means the module still delivers at least 90% of its flux after that time.

The manufacturer intends it for gardens and parks and for the grounds of hotels and restaurants, and the plain, unadorned dome places it in the Scandinavian style.
