RICO 11278-55 by LeuchtenDirekt (Neuhaus group) is a steel-coloured LED ceiling light: an elongated 70 cm bar with four arms, each carrying two rectangular light heads. Each of the eight heads is adjusted separately, so the light can be spread evenly or aimed at chosen spots in the room.
Size and installation
The fitting is 70 cm long and 12 cm wide and projects 9.5–14.5 cm from the ceiling, depending on how the heads are set. Compare the length with your hallway or with the space above the sofa where it is to go. It weighs 0.948 kg and is fixed to the ceiling with two screws and wall plugs supplied in the box — the holes are drilled with a 6 mm bit.
The fitting is protection class I, which means an earth conductor is needed at the connection point.
What light it gives
The heads hold eight permanently built-in 2 W LED modules, so no bulbs need to be bought — but they are not replaced by the user either. The whole lamp draws 16.4 W and shines at 3000 K, a warm white.
The manufacturer gives two flux figures: 1800 lm is the combined rating of the modules themselves, while 1240 lm is the light that actually leaves the fitting. That second figure is the one to plan with — clearly more than the roughly 800 lm of an old 60 W bulb. The manufacturer states a module life of 25,000 hours and 15,000 switching cycles, and the light sources are energy efficiency class F.
Where it fits
The manufacturer lists RICO among ceiling lights and spotlights for living spaces, and its elongated shape with movable heads suits living rooms and hallways, where one fitting has to light several zones. The plain metal form without ornament fits modern interiors.
