Paul Neuhaus TARO 15117-18 pairs a black metal cage shade with a round pine-wood mounting base. This single-light fitting can be mounted on a ceiling or wall and has a swivel-mounted head with an E14 socket. A short, contrasting braided cable remains visible between the wooden disc and the lamp holder.
The bulb becomes part of the design
Metal rods form a cage that widens towards its open end. Rather than hiding the light source behind a solid shade or an opal diffuser, this construction leaves the bulb visible, including from the side. Its shape therefore affects how TARO looks both when switched on and when switched off.
Black metal, exposed connections and the grain of the wooden base support industrial, loft and rustic interiors. The official photographs show light passing between the rods and shade shadows on the wall. The precise result depends on the bulb you choose and the position of the head; the pictured lighting effect is not a fixed output specification.
Check the space around the moving head
The documentation gives dimensions of 18 × 18 × 21 cm. The wall-mounted drawing also shows a 15–21 cm range associated with the head position. Compare the fitting's outline with the available space before choosing its location, particularly beside a door or in a narrow passage. The movable head lets you change the shade's position while keeping the mounting base in place.
TARO can serve a hallway or entrance area, or provide an additional light point in a living room or bedroom. Its open cage does not fully shield the bulb from direct view. Take that into account when choosing mounting height and orientation, rather than treating it as an enclosed shade.
One E14 bulb, purchased separately
The fitting takes one E14 bulb rated at no more than 10 W. No bulb is supplied, even though one appears in the photographs. Brightness and colour temperature depend on the separately selected light source, not on a fixed lighting module. Compare the bulb's lumen output, light colour and physical shape with your intended use and the exposed cage design.
