LED Bulb Spectrum GLS A60 E27 18 W 1800 lm 6000 K Cool White

WOJ+14250_A60 is an LED bulb in the classic A60 envelope with an E27 screw cap, behind a matt, milky diffuser. The envelope measures 60 mm across and 123 mm long, and the manufacturer intends it to run straight off the 230 V mains, with no driver and no transformer.

How much light it gives and what colour

The bulb puts out 1800 lm. The manufacturer declared an incandescent equivalent of 114 W in the EPREL register, so this is a lamp for lighting a whole room rather than brightening one corner. For comparison, an old 60 W incandescent gave around 800 lm.

The colour is 6000 K, a cool, distinctly white light with a bluish cast — closer to daylight than to a filament lamp. Colour rendering is Ra 80: colours read clearly, but this is not the Ra 90 level a mirror, a wardrobe or a worktop needs when shades have to be matched. Light spreads over a 220-degree angle, so almost all round the envelope rather than in a single cone as from a reflector lamp.

Where it fits and what it will not do

The 123 mm length is the figure to set against the depth of a shade or fitting: an A60 envelope of this length is longer than a classic filament bulb and can protrude from a shallow shade. The 60 mm diameter in turn decides whether the bulb passes through the lampholder opening.

The manufacturer states the bulb is not dimmable, so on a dimmer circuit it runs outside specification. It is intended for indoor use only, and the working temperature range of −20 to +40 degrees Celsius means it will also run in an unheated utility room.

How much power it draws and how long it lasts

Power draw is 18 W for 1800 lm, that is 100 lm per watt. On the A to G energy label that gives class F and a consumption of 18 kWh per 1000 hours of burning — a figure to multiply by your own electricity rate.

Rated life is 17,000 hours, which at three hours a day works out at roughly fifteen years. The manufacturer also quotes 15,000 switching cycles, a number that counts where a light goes on and off many times a day. The warranty runs 2 years.
