CHEPEN does not hang from one point. It is a catenary — a string of faceted clear acrylic spheres on a metal chain, spanned between two mounting points and falling between them in a free curve, like a necklace.

Before ordering: two ceiling points are required

This is the key fact about this fitting. The mounting points sit 280 cm apart and the curve drops 200 cm below the ceiling. One end takes a black oval canopy with the supply, the other a small end fixing. Without two prepared points at the right spacing the fitting cannot be hung — something to allow for while designing the ceiling, not after delivery.

Scale

At close to three metres of span and 22 kg, CHEPEN is an architectural element rather than an accessory. The natural places are a long dining table, a kitchen island, a hall with a high ceiling, or the void above a staircase where the curve is seen from two levels. The construction is only 10 cm deep — the catenary is flat and reads as a drawing against the wall behind it.

The light

The source is integrated and supplied: 91 W and 6659 lm at 3000 K. That is a great deal of light for a decorative fitting — enough for CHEPEN to be the main source over a table. The faceted spheres break it into small reflections, so the effect sparkles rather than spreads evenly.

Dimming

The fitting is dimmable but requires an external dimmer — none is included and it must be allowed for in the installation. At this output the control matters: full power suits cleaning, not dinner.
