Lucide KIANTI is a ceiling spotlight with three small spot heads mounted on a round ceiling plate 21 cm across. The whole fitting is metal, spray-painted matt black, including the inside of the cylindrical shades. Each head can be aimed in a different direction, so one ceiling point lights three separate spots.
Dimensions and installation
The fitting is 12 cm high and the ceiling plate is 2.5 cm thick and 21 cm in diameter, so it sits close to the ceiling and suits rooms with a lower ceiling too. The shades are only 4.2 cm across. It weighs 0.64 kg and the fixing materials are included. It is a class I fitting, so it has to be connected to the protective earth. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only.
Bulbs and light
Each of the three heads has a GU10 socket for a bulb of up to 50 W – up to 3 × 50 W in total on 230 V. No bulbs are included, so you choose the light colour and brightness yourself. Lucide pairs the fitting with its own dimmable GU10 LED bulb, 5 W at 3000 K – warm white – in a black housing that matches the shades (article 49006/05/30).
The fitting can be dimmed, but that takes two things bought separately: a dimmer in place of an ordinary wall switch, and bulbs marked as dimmable. Without them it simply switches on and off.
Where it works
The adjustable heads give directional rather than diffused light, which is what you want when particular places need lighting: a kitchen worktop, a bookcase or a picture in the living room, the wardrobe doors in a hallway, or a desk in a study. In a corridor, three heads turned different ways light a longer stretch of wall. The form is modern and spare: a plain disc and three simple cylinders with no ornament. KIANTI also comes in taupe as a separate product.
