Lucide MALOTO pendant light amber glass E27 Ø20 cm 45386/20/62

The Lucide MALOTO 45386/20/62 is a pendant with a single shade of amber glass ribbed in vertical flutes. The shade is a barrel 20 cm across and 32.5 cm tall, hanging below a plain lampholder sleeve and a matt gold ceiling rose. The cord is black.

How big it is and how low it hangs

The rose is a round plate 12 cm across and 2.5 cm deep, covering a standard ceiling box. The drop runs from 50 to 150 cm, but the manufacturer describes the adjustment as a one-off before installation: the cord is cut once while fitting, and changing the height later means opening the fitting again.

Above a 75 cm dining table the lower rim usually sits 70–80 cm above the top. At 20 cm across the shade is narrow enough that a longer table is better served by a row of several than by one. The fitting weighs 1.5 kg, so an ordinary ceiling hook carries it, and the mounting hardware is in the box.

The bulb and the light

There is one E27 lampholder rated to a maximum of 40 W, and no bulb is supplied. The manufacturer names no lamp technology — an E27 thread takes LED, halogen or filament — and recommends its own LED lamp 49042/05/62 as the match: an amber filament globe, Ø6 cm, 4.9 W, 2200 K.

That recommendation matters because the glass is translucent and the bulb stays visible through the flutes over the full height of the shade. A frosted white lamp changes how the fitting looks; the amber glass on its own gives the light a warm, honeyed cast and spreads it all round rather than aiming it downward.

Dimming and wiring

The fitting can be dimmed, but it holds no electronics of its own — it is switched from an ordinary wall switch. Dimming therefore needs two separately bought parts: a dimmable lamp and a dimmer in the wall box.

It runs on 230 V and is a class I fitting, so an earth conductor is required at the ceiling point. IP20 confines it to dry indoor rooms.

Build and spare parts

The metal parts — rose, sleeve and the ring under the shade — are powder coated in matt gold with a brass tone. The glass is amber outside and inside alike.

The manufacturer lists the shade on its own as part 92/45386/14, so a broken glass does not write off the whole lamp. MALOTO also comes in green.
