TAYLOR is a bathroom ceiling spotlight with two cylindrical heads set side by side on a rectangular ceiling plate. The body is powder-coated aluminium in matt black, and the inside of both tubes is black as well. Each head rotates and tilts, so the light can be aimed separately at two different spots.

How the light colour changes as you dim it

Two LED lamps working on the Dim to Warm principle come in the box. At full output they give 3000 K, a warm white, and the further you dim them the warmer the colour becomes: 2700 K at 75%, 2500 K at half and 2200 K at 25% output. It is the same behaviour a traditional incandescent bulb shows on a dimmer.

Dimming itself, however, needs a dimmer in the wall box. The fitting has no electronics of its own and is switched by an ordinary light switch as standard; no dimmer is supplied, so it is a separate purchase if the colour shift matters to you.

How much light the two heads give

Each lamp gives 320 lm at 5 W, so 640 lm together. That is less than a former 60 W bulb, but the output is concentrated into two 40-degree beams — directional light for a particular spot rather than for a whole room.

The lamps have a colour rendering index of Ra 95. Colours look almost as they do in daylight, which counts precisely where a fitting like this usually hangs: over a mirror and a washbasin.

Where and how to mount it

The fitting is 24 cm long, 10 cm wide and 12.3 cm high, and the ceiling plate is a 10 × 10 cm square 2.5 cm thick. The height cannot be adjusted — it is a fixed dimension, worth comparing with the clearance above your mirror or cabinet. At 1.08 kg the spotlight screws straight to the ceiling, and the mounting materials are included.

An IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, which is why the manufacturer intends this fitting for a bathroom. Protection class II removes the need for an earth conductor. The lamps are replaceable: ordinary GU10 bulbs running on 230 V.
