140 to 200 cm — two 30 cm leaves
The mechanism is simple, and that is its strength: the top slides apart on metal runners, and the gap is filled by two leaves of 30 cm each. Hence 140 cm as standard, 170 cm with one leaf and 200 cm with both.
There is one caveat to know before buying: the leaves do not store inside the table. There is no butterfly housing under the top — both panels have to be kept elsewhere, in a wardrobe, a utility room or behind a cupboard. Each is 30 cm wide and as deep as the tabletop, so this is not something you tuck away in a drawer. If you extend the table once a week, it is a detail; if a small flat leaves you nowhere to put them, it is an argument against.
An oval top — why it matters at ten places
At 200 cm long, MAUT seats up to ten people. The oval is not only an aesthetic decision — it has concrete practical consequences:

No sharp corners — it is easier to squeeze between the table and the wall, which genuinely changes comfort in a smaller dining room. It is also safer in a house with children.

The head seats are full seats — at a rectangular table the person at the end faces a corner; at an oval they get the same space as everyone else.

Wood-structure black, not solid timber
The maker describes the finish as black with a wood structure — and that should be read literally. The top is a board finished with a surface that imitates wood grain, not a solid timber plank. In practice that means three things: the surface is uniform and predictable (no knots, no variation in figure), it is easy to maintain (a damp cloth, no oiling or waxing), but it also cannot be sanded back after a deep scratch.
A matt black surface with visible structure is far less mirror-like than black gloss — it shows less dust and fewer smears, and under a pendant it does not bounce the lamp straight into the diners' eyes.
Construction
The top rests on a metal frame. The legs are finished with protective glides that keep laminate and parquet from scratching — a small detail, but a real one on a table weighing 65 kg: this is not a piece of furniture you drag across a floor without consequences.
That 65 kg is also logistical information. Two people are needed to carry it in and unpack it, and on a narrow staircase it is worth measuring the turns beforehand.

Before you order
Check two dimensions, not one. Extended, the table is 200 cm, and you still need clearance around it to pull chairs out — the usual allowance is 75–90 cm on each side. So the practical minimum for the 200 cm setting is a room about 350 cm long.
Plan where the leaves will live. This is the most common surprise with extendable tables that have no internal housing: two 30 cm panels have to stand somewhere for most of the year.
77 cm height is the dining standard — it suits ordinary chairs with a seat height of 45–47 cm.
