MIRAX is a small spot-type wall light in black metal. A square plate 6.5 cm on a side sits against the wall, and a cylindrical head 2.5 cm across projects from it on a joint. A push switch is set into the face of the plate.
How much room it takes and where it belongs
The whole fitting is 8.5 cm tall and stands 6.3 cm off the wall — less than the thickness of a pillow, so it fits between bed and wall, above or beside a headboard. It weighs 0.18 kg, so ordinary plugs carry it with no fixing into structure.
The joint lets the head be aimed where the light is wanted — at the book rather than at the face of whoever is asleep beside you. That is what decides whether two of these over a double bed can be used independently.
A narrow beam and a switch on the fitting
The built-in 3 W LED module gives 200 lm in a 30° beam. This is reading light, not room lighting: the narrow cone lays down a pool about the size of an open book and does not brighten the room. 3000 K is a warm white, and Ra 80 is the colour rendering usual in domestic lighting.
The switch is on the fitting itself, so the light goes on within arm's reach, without getting up for the switch by the door and without a separate control wire in the wall. Dimming is not provided — the fitting runs at one brightness.
Supply and build
The diodes are built in permanently and cannot be replaced; the light source is included. The fitting runs on 220–240 V and is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor at the box. The light source it contains is energy efficiency class G — with a beam this narrow and 3 W of power, this is an accent fitting rather than general lighting.
The body is metal in a black finish; the same model is also made in white. The maker gives a five-year warranty.
