NIDAROS 2123 is an outdoor ceiling luminaire shaped as a low cylinder, 12 cm in diameter and 9 cm high, finished in white RAL 9003. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium, closed underneath by clear safety glass on a silicone gasket, which gives it an IP65 rating.
What light it gives and where it falls
The integrated LED module shines at 4000 K, a neutral white, and the luminaire delivers 808 lm while drawing 10.7 W. Light leaves only downwards, in a narrow 24° beam — the manufacturer states a ULOR of 0%, so nothing shines into the sky or into windows above the fitting. At the 2.5 m mounting height used for the photometry, the lit circle is roughly a metre across. This is an accent luminaire: the manufacturer intends it for fixing to horizontal surfaces such as soffits or porch ceilings and for lighting walls and facades, not for evenly lighting a whole terrace.
It can be dimmed with a phase dimmer of either the trailing-edge or the leading-edge type, so it works with both kinds of phase dimmer. The colour rendering index is CRI 80.
Installation and wiring
The luminaire is screwed in place through two holes. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the next luminaire to be looped through with up to 1.5 mm², so several units in a row along a facade can run from one circuit. The gland takes round-sheathed cable 7 to 10.5 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth connection.
The LED module and control gear can be replaced by a professional, so a failed LED does not mean replacing the whole fitting. The 3084 mounting spacer is sold separately by the manufacturer.
Design and use
The plain, unornamented cylinder and smooth white surface give the luminaire a modern look that all but disappears against a pale ceiling or soffit. It suits building facades, hotels and restaurants. In the NIDAROS range the same body also comes in aluminium, black and graphite.
