Sandvik Down 5153GR is a box-shaped outdoor wall light, 13.5 cm high and 8 cm wide, projecting 11 cm from the wall. The housing is cast aluminium, powder-coated graphite grey RAL 7016. Light leaves only through the bottom, through a window of clear safety glass, so the wall above the fitting stays dark.

How much light, and what kind

The source is a built-in 8 W Lumens LED module that runs directly on 230 V mains – there is no separate driver and no bulb to buy. The module produces 802 lm and the luminaire delivers 675 lm, or 84.4 lm/W. The whole output is concentrated in a 36° beam pointing down, so the fitting draws a sharply cut pool of light on the wall and the ground below it. ULOR is 0 % and the BUG rating B1-U0-G0 confirms that nothing shines into the sky. 4000 K is neutral white with no yellow tint, CRI is 80, and SDCM3 keeps several fittings side by side the same shade. The energy efficiency class is E.

Dimming and service

The light dims on a phase dimmer, and the manufacturer allows both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) types. The LED module is replaced by a professional service, for which Norlys supplies the repair kit ZS5153zx0009. The manufacturer rates the module at L70 59,000 h according to TM-21.

Installation and build

The fitting weighs 1 kg. It is screwed to the wall through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 80 mm. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the next fitting can be looped through with up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one facade run on one circuit. An EPDM gland seals round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The fitting is protection class I and needs an earth conductor. For mounting on a building corner, Norlys sells the corner bracket 131XX0009 separately.

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the light can hang on an unsheltered facade, and IK08 means it withstands an impact of 5 J. It operates from −20 to +45 °C. The manufacturer intends it for private grounds and public areas: house facades and gardens, and the entrance of a hotel or restaurant. The plain body without ornament suits modern and minimalist architecture.
