The light comes out between the ribs

Astrid is not the usual bollard with a lit head on top. The whole column is built from vertical ribs, and in its upper section an opal diffuser hides between them. The light therefore leaves as narrow vertical stripes all the way round, not through a glowing "hat" — the top is closed. The result is a rhythmic pattern of light at eye level with no point source to look straight into. The body is 14 × 14 cm in section and 85 cm tall — enough to light a path, not enough to light the neighbour's windows.

How much light actually leaves it

The built-in LED module draws 10.4 W (the module itself 7.9 W) and produces 1656 lm, but through the ribs and the diffuser 265 lm reach the outside. That gap is by design: Astrid is meant to trace the line of a path and set a mood, not to flood a garden. 4000 K is neutral white — cooler than the 3000 K typical of garden lighting, which keeps greenery and grey paving looking natural rather than yellowed. CRI 80 and SDCM3 colour consistency mean several bollards in a row light in the same tone.

Dimming and supply behaviour

The fitting is TRIAC-dimmable, so it works with an ordinary leading-edge dimmer in a back box or a distribution board. A power factor above 0.9 and 15% THD mean a clean load on the installation. The inrush current deserves attention: 8 A for 10 µs. With one bollard that is irrelevant; with a dozen on one circuit it is not — that is when you choose a type-C breaker or split the circuit.

Weather and impact resistance

A powder-coated aluminium profile, an EPDM gland and IP65 sealing are specified for heavy rain and for cleaning with a water jet. IK10 impact resistance — the top of the scale, 20 joules — matters where the bollard stands by a driveway, in the path of a mower, or in a public space. The operating range of −20 °C to +45 °C covers winter, and the photobiological rating of RG0/RG1 confirms the light is safe in normal use.

Installation: what to prepare and what to buy alongside

The base is fixed with three screws through ø9 mm holes spaced 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle — onto a finished foundation or onto an anchor. Anchors and adapters are not included; Norlys supplies them separately: a concreting anchor (index 205), a ground anchor (206), an adapter for a concrete foundation (206S) and a mounting adapter (3080GA). The terminals accept up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow loop-through wiring, so the supply can run from one bollard to the next without a separate junction box. Round cable up to ø12.5 mm in diameter fits.
