NORLYS Astrid 2221AL LED garden bollard, aluminium, 55 cm, 2700 K, IP65

Astrid 2221AL is a 55 cm garden bollard made from an extruded aluminium profile with a 14 × 14 cm cross-section and vertical fluting along its full height. The body is powder-coated in aluminium colour (RAL 9006), and the light comes out through an opal PMMA diffuser.

How much light, and what kind

The integrated LED module draws 14.6 W and the fitting emits 265 lm at 2700 K – warm, slightly yellowish light close to a traditional bulb. That is orientation lighting: the bollard marks the edge of a path, terrace or driveway and lights its immediate surroundings, but it will not replace a floodlight for lighting a whole garden. The opal diffuser spreads the light, so no point source is visible from the side.

The fitting is phase-dimmable, and the manufacturer allows both dimmer types – trailing edge (TE) and leading edge (LE). A dimmer already installed will therefore work as long as it is one of those two types.

Mounting and connection

The bollard is bolted down through three ø9 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle. No anchor is included: the manufacturer sells a concrete-in anchor, a ground anchor, an adapter for an existing concrete foundation and a mounting adapter separately – the choice depends on the surface.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow looping through to the next fitting, so several bollards along a path can be fed from one cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. The manufacturer states how many of these fittings one circuit breaker can carry: 60 on a B10 and 96 on a B16. It is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth conductor, and it should be connected by an electrician.

Durability and service life

IP65 means a dust-tight housing protected against water jets, so the bollard can stand outdoors without any cover. IK10 is the highest impact rating on that scale, which matters by a driveway or path where the fitting is easily knocked.

The manufacturer states an LED module life of over 70,000 hours (L80B50) and 100,000 hours for the driver. The plain form with its fluted profile suits modern and Scandinavian-style gardens, and the Astrid series offers the same body in eight colours and in 85 cm versions.
