NORLYS Astrid 2226AL LED bollard light, aluminium, 85 cm, 4000 K, IP65

Astrid 2226AL is an 85 cm NORLYS bollard built from an extruded aluminium profile with a 14 × 14 cm cross-section, powder-coated in an aluminium finish (RAL 9006). Light leaves through an opal PMMA diffuser, and the integrated LED module comes with its driver built in, so there is no bulb to buy.

How much light, and what kind

The luminaire draws 14.6 W and delivers 377 lm. That is orientation lighting: it marks the edge of a path, driveway or terrace, but it will not light a whole garden. At 4000 K the light is neutral white, under which paving and planting keep their natural colours; in the same housing the manufacturer offers 3000 K (Astrid 2225) and 2700 K (Astrid 2227) versions with slightly lower output.

The opal diffuser spreads the light rather than casting a hard pool. The manufacturer gives a ULOR of 50%, meaning half of the light goes above the fitting — worth noting near a bedroom window. The bollard is phase-dimmable with both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) dimmers, so it works with either common type of TRIAC dimmer.

Weather resistance and installation

IP65 means the housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, so the bollard can stand outdoors without cover. IK10 is the top of the impact-resistance scale (20 J), which matters beside a driveway where a mower or a bicycle may knock it.

The base fixes to the ground through three ø9 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle. Anchoring parts are sold separately: a concrete-in anchor (205), a ground anchor (206), a concrete-foundation adapter (206S) or a mounting adapter (3080GA). The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next fitting, so several bollards along a path can share one circuit; the cable gland takes round cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class I and needs an earth conductor. According to the manufacturer's data sheet, up to 96 of these fittings can go on one B 16 A circuit breaker.

Where it fits

The manufacturer intends Astrid for gardens, terraces, driveways and street frontages. The plain, square-section form without ornament sits well in Scandinavian-style surroundings. The manufacturer rates the LED module at over 70,000 hours (L80B50) and the driver at 100,000 hours.
