NORLYS Halden 5198AL LED Outdoor Wall Light 8.5W 3000K with Motion Sensor, Aluminium IP65

The Halden 5198AL is an outdoor wall light shaped as half a dome, sitting flat against the wall. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated in aluminium RAL 9006, closed underneath by a clear cover of structured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate. A microwave motion sensor is built into the fitting.

How the sensor drives the fitting

The sensor works on microwaves, together with a dusk switch and a motion-hold function: the light comes on when movement is detected and goes off after the set time. The manufacturer states the factory settings - detection area 100%, hold time 5 seconds and the dusk threshold switched off - and expects them set after installation, per the instructions supplied.

In this version the fitting does not dim; control comes down to the sensor. That is the only difference from the sensorless variant of the same body, which the manufacturer lists under its own index.

How much wall it takes and how it is fixed

On the manufacturer's drawing the fitting is 31 cm wide and 15 cm tall, and it stands 15.5 cm out from the wall face. That figure is the one to compare with the passage along the wall - on a narrow path or beside a door it decides whether the fitting is in the way.

It mounts on an intermediate plate with two 7 x 10 mm adjusting slots at 100 mm spacing, so the position can still be corrected after drilling. The terminals take up to 3 x 2.5 mm2, and the loop-through allows a further fitting at up to 3 x 1.5 mm2 - a whole row along a facade then runs on one supply line. The manufacturer states that up to 157 of these fit on one B 10 A breaker. Protection class I means an installation with a protective earth conductor.

The light it gives

The fitting draws 8.5 W and delivers 682 lumens at 3000 K, warm and slightly yellow light. The manufacturer describes the distribution as diffuse, downward-directed hemispherical light, so the output works on the wall surface and the ground beneath rather than on the whole surroundings.

Ra 80 colour rendering is enough for a facade and an approach path. The IP65 rating allows unsheltered operation in any weather, and IK10 is the top step of that scale - which matters where the fitting hangs low and within reach.
