Moss 6163GR is a small outdoor spotlight for wall or ceiling mounting: a round mounting plate, a curved arm and a cylindrical head that can be aimed in the vertical plane as well. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated graphite (RAL 7016), and the head is closed with clear safety glass. The LED module is built in, so no bulb is needed.
What light it gives
The beam is a symmetrical 36° — directional light for picking one feature out of the dark, such as a tree, a planter, a stretch of wall or a flight of steps, rather than lighting the whole garden. It gives 687 lm from 8.5 W at 3000 K, a warm white, with CRI 80.
It is phase-dimmable on both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) dimmers, so it works with either common type of phase dimmer.
Mounting and wiring
On the maker's drawing the fitting measures 132 mm from the plate to the front of the head, and the mounting plate is ø80 mm; it weighs 0.4 kg. It fixes through two 5×10 mm slotted holes 40 mm apart, which leave a little room for levelling.
Instead of a terminal block it has a 3M Scotchlok 316IR connector that joins two or three conductors of 0.5–1.5 mm² without stripping them. The supply cable has to fall within that range; the junction box (145), brackets (6434, 6435, 6436) and mounting adapter (6729) are sold separately.
The fitting is protection class I and needs a protective earth. IP65 means protection against water jets, so it can be mounted on an unsheltered wall; impact resistance is IK06.
Where it fits
Norlys designed the Moss range for gardens and private grounds. The small, plain head suits a terrace or a garden pavilion, and at a restaurant or hotel it can light the planting by the entrance.
