NORLYS Moss 6379BL LED recessed outdoor light 8.4 W 3000 K black RAL 9005

Moss 6379BL is a recessed light for outdoor ceilings, with a round trim 13 cm in diameter and a body 6.5 cm high. The body is cast aluminium, the trim is steel powder-coated in black (RAL 9005), and the light source sits behind clear safety glass.

Ceiling installation

The fitting goes into a hole of about 110 mm diameter cut in a board 0.5 to 40 mm thick and is held by spring clips. It needs 85–90 mm of free space above the board, a dimension worth checking in the roof soffit or porch ceiling before buying. Once installed, the head can be tilted by about 15° to aim the light at a chosen part of a wall or entrance.

A 0.3 m H05RN-F 3G1 lead comes out of the fitting and is connected in a separate sealed junction box; the manufacturer offers box 145ZX0009 for this, sold separately. The fitting is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth.

What light it gives

The integrated LED module draws 8.4 W and the fitting delivers 687 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. The beam is symmetrical and fairly narrow at 36°: from 2.5 m it lights a circle about 1.8 m across, so the fitting suits accent lighting better than even lighting of a large area. Colour rendering is Ra 80.

It can be dimmed with an ordinary phase dimmer. The manufacturer allows both trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers, so it works with most dimmers found in home installations.

Durability and lifetime

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, so the fitting can work in an open porch roof where driving rain reaches. IK06 is moderate impact resistance, enough for a fitting set into a ceiling out of reach.

The manufacturer rates the module at 59,000 h with 70% of its luminous flux maintained (L70). The LED module is not meant to be replaced by the user; replacement is done only by Norlys's professional service.
