Nidaros 2122AL is an outdoor wall light in cast aluminium, 23 × 12 × 12 cm, with an integrated LED module and a glass diffuser. It emits one-sided, downward, in a 24° beam — a fitting for marking and washing the wall beneath it, not for lighting a whole façade.

Why the power and flux figures do not line up

The maker gives three numbers that are best read together. The LED module itself draws 6.7 W and produces 1051 lm (156.9 lm/W). The complete luminaire draws 8.3 W from the mains — the driver takes the difference — and puts out 754 lm, because the diffuser and optics hold some light back. Hence a luminaire efficacy of 90.8 lm/W. When comparing this lamp with another, compare 754 lm and 8.3 W, not 1051 lm and 6.7 W — the latter are module figures, not product figures.

Phase dimming and light quality

The fitting is dimmable with a trailing-edge phase dimmer — the type intended for LED loads; a leading-edge dimmer made for incandescent lamps can cause flicker or buzzing. Colour is 3000 K, CRI 80, and colour consistency SDCM3, tighter than the usual SDCM6 — install several along a façade and differences of shade between units will be practically invisible. A power factor of 0.90 and THD of 15% matter on larger installations where circuit loading counts.

BUG classification B1-U1-G0

This is shorthand for light emitted where it is not wanted: B (backlight) 1, U (uplight) 1, G (glare) 0. A zero G means no flux in the glare zones, and U1 means minimal upward emission, that is, little contribution to sky glow. For a fitting mounted by a path or next to a neighbour's terrace that is concrete information, not a marketing claim.

IP65 and a 25-year anti-corrosion warranty

IP65 is full dust tightness plus resistance to water jets from a nozzle from any direction — the level appropriate for a façade exposed to rain and low-pressure washing. Separately the maker declares a 25-year anti-corrosion warranty on the painted aluminium casting; that is a commitment about the coating, not the electronics, and it matters on the coast and beside salted roads.

Looping — why it matters on a façade

The terminals take up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the maker explicitly allows looping onward to the next fitting with up to 1.5 mm². On a run of several wall lights that lets one supply line pass through them all instead of pulling a separate circuit to each — fewer cables in the insulation and fewer junction boxes on the wall.
