Norlys SANDVIK 1731 Outdoor Wall Light White, Up-Down, 2x LED GU10 7.8 W 2700 K IP65

SANDVIK 1731 is an outdoor wall light shaped as a rectangular box of cast aluminium, powder-coated white (RAL 9003). It shines up and down at the same time through two windows of clear safety glass, drawing two narrow bands of light on the facade above and below the fitting.

Size and mounting

The fitting is 21 cm high and 8 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall. It is fixed with two screws through ø 4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 97.5 mm; for mounting on a building corner the manufacturer offers a separately sold corner bracket, 148XX0009.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting with up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one wall can run from one circuit wired light to light. The gland takes a round cable of 7–10.5 mm. It is a protection class I fitting and must be earthed.

Lamps and light colour

Two 3.9 W LED GU10 lamps are included (Philips MASTER LED ExpertColor, 2700 K, CRI 90, 25°), 7.8 W in total. 2700 K is warm, yellowish light, and CRI 90 renders the colour of render, brick or timber on the facade faithfully. The user can replace the lamps without a service call. Together they produce 530 lm and 420 lm leaves the fitting, so this is light that accents a wall rather than lighting a whole driveway.

The manufacturer states that half of the light goes upwards. The fitting can be dimmed with a phase dimmer of either the trailing-edge or the leading-edge type.

Durability and use

IP65 means a dust-tight housing protected against water jets, and IK08 means impact resistance. The gasket is silicone and the gland EPDM. Norlys intends the light for private grounds and public areas: on a house facade, by a terrace, in the garden, or at the entrance of a hotel or restaurant.
