Sandvik 5152GR is a box-shaped outdoor wall light that shines up and down at the same time. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in graphite RAL 7016, and both light outlets are closed by clear safety-glass panes sealed with silicone.
Size and installation
The fitting is 21 cm tall, 8 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall, so it fits on a narrow pillar or beside a door frame. It weighs 1.47 kg. It is fixed through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 97.5 mm; for mounting on the corner of a building the maker sells a separate corner bracket, 148XX0009.
The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting at up to 3 × 1.5 mm²; the EPDM gland accepts a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Several lights on one façade can therefore share a single supply line. The fitting is protection class I and must be connected to earth.
What light it gives
Two integrated 8 W LED modules deliver a combined 1350 lm from the fitting at 4000 K — neutral white — with a colour rendering index of Ra 80. Each module has a 36° beam, so the light draws two narrow vertical stripes on the wall, one above the fitting and one below. Half the flux goes upwards (ULOR 50%), which brings out the texture of a façade but makes it the wrong choice where light must not spill into the night sky.
The fitting dims on a phase-cut dimmer, and the maker allows both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) dimming, so it works with either type of dimmer. The maker rates the LED modules at over 59,000 h (L70).
Where to fit it
IP65 and an IK08 impact rating allow outdoor mounting with no canopy above it. Norlys intends it for private grounds and public areas, and its place is the façade — of a house, but equally of a hotel or restaurant. The Sandvik series offers the same light in aluminium, white and black as well.
