Outdoor wall light NORLYS Asker MD1530GB grey beige RAL 7006, LED 9.4 W 4000 K, motion sensor, IP65

Asker MD1530 is an outdoor façade wall light from Norlys with a microwave motion sensor, throwing light up and down at once. This item is index MD1530GB — grey-beige housing in RAL 7006. The body is small: 22.5 cm high, 11 cm wide and 8.5 cm deep, so the fitting draws two symmetrical cones on the render rather than calling attention to itself.

A microwave sensor rather than PIR

The fitting carries a microwave sensor MC119S with a twilight switch and motion hold. A microwave detector responds to movement rather than to a temperature difference, so — unlike common PIR units — it will not lose a person on a warm summer night and does not need a clear line of sight. From the factory it is set to 100 % detection range, 5 s hold and the twilight threshold switched off; all three are adjusted after installation to suit the site. Standby draw is only 0.1 W.

Double-sided light, ULOR 50 %

The LED module sends half its output up and half down (ULOR 50 %), producing the characteristic twin cone on a wall. The fitting delivers 328 lm for 9.4 W total input — the module itself makes 874 lm, and the narrow optical slot absorbs the rest, which is normal for this effect. 4000 K is neutral, CRI is 80, and colour consistency between units falls within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse (SDCM3) — put several in a row and you will not see differences in the white.

BUG classification and the neighbours

Norlys rates this fitting BUG B0-U3-G0: no backlight (B0), no glare (G0) and a pronounced uplight component (U3). Worth knowing when mounting under an eave or beneath a neighbour's balcony — the upward beam is deliberate here, and visible.

Build and installation

The body is powder-coated cast aluminium and the lens is clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate. Sealing comes from a silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland, hence the high IP65 rating (dust-tight and jet-proof). Mechanical strength is IK08. Fixing: two ø4.5 mm holes on a 180 × 60 mm pattern; terminals take up to 3 × 2.5 mm², with a looping option for the next fitting at up to 3 × 1.5 mm² — useful when a façade takes several units on one circuit. The fitting is protection class I, so an earth conductor is required.

The same fitting comes in nine finishes: aluminium (RAL 9006), black (9005), cement grey (7033), copper brown (8004), corten (approx. 8011), graphite (7016), grey beige (7006), white (9003) and hot-dip galvanised. The same Asker family holds the companion MD1531 at 2700 K, should neutral 4000 K read too cool on a given façade.
