Nora 2485CB is a Norlys outdoor wall light shaped as a flat, square box of cast aluminium, powder-coated in copper brown RAL 8004. The front measures 13 × 13 cm and the fitting projects 5 cm from the wall. Light leaves through the top and bottom edges via satin safety glass sealed with a silicone gasket.
How much light it gives – and the power switch
Two LED modules sit inside, one for each direction. The maker lists 15 W and 679 lm, or 45.3 lm per watt, but the driver has a power switch from 10.9 to 15 W and leaves the factory set to 10.9 W. Out of the box it is dimmer than the data suggest; the full 679 lm needs the switch moved during installation.
A ULOR of 50% means half the light goes up and half down, so the façade gets two soft washes above and below the fitting; the satin glass diffuses them and hides the LED points. 3000 K is warm white, and Ra 80 is the usual colour rendering for outdoor lighting.
Dimming and service
The LED modules and driver are built in, so there are no bulbs to buy. The fitting dims on phase-cut dimmers of both types, trailing edge (TE) and leading edge (LE), so older dimmers work too. The modules and driver are replaced by a professional service, and the maker offers a service kit. The driver is rated for 50,000 h, and the modules keep 90% of their output for more than 52,600 h.
Mounting and wiring
The light fixes through two ø5 mm holes spaced 63 × 112 mm and weighs 0.85 kg. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop through to the next fitting with up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so a row of lights along a façade can run from one line. On longer runs the maker allows up to 37 fittings on a B 10 A breaker, 60 on B 16 A, 62 on C 10 A and 102 on C 16 A. The luminaire is protection class I and must be earthed; IP65 means it is sealed against dust and water jets, and IK09 that the housing resists impacts.
Where it fits
Norlys designed Nora for lighting walls and building façades. The plain copper-brown square suits Scandinavian and minimalist architecture.
