ROCK 3405 is an outdoor wall light shaped as a 18.7 cm cylinder in lacquered aluminium, finished in graphite. The top is closed and the light leaves through a clear polycarbonate ring at the bottom, so the fitting lights the strip of wall beneath it rather than its whole surroundings.
How big it is and how it mounts
The cylinder is 18.7 cm tall and stands 17 cm off the wall. The manufacturer specifies direct mounting: the fitting is fixed straight to the wall over the installation box, with no extra arm. It weighs 0.95 kg, so the load on the plugs is small.
It is a Class I fitting, so the supply cable has to include an earth conductor and an electrician makes the connection. It runs off a standard 220β230 V, 50/60 Hz supply.
Which bulb to buy
The fitting takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included and the source is replaceable, so the colour and brightness are yours to choose β by a front door most people pick a warm 2700β3000 K light with a slightly yellow cast. That wattage is the ceiling for the bulb, not what the fitting consumes: with an LED source the real draw is many times lower.
Because the light only leaves downwards, this sconce suits places where one spot needs lighting β a threshold, a path along the faΓ§ade, part of a terrace β rather than a diffused glow all around the fitting.
Working outdoors
The manufacturer rates it for outdoor use, and IP44 means protection against solid objects above 1 mm and against water splashed from any direction, that is against rain driving onto a façade. Lacquered aluminium and clear polycarbonate are materials meant for changeable weather.
