The GALATEA DU31350/63W is a pendant lamp on which eleven clear, ribbed shades of 15 cm diameter sit on crossing gold-finished arms at several different heights. The whole fixture hangs on four black cables from a rectangular 42 × 24 cm ceiling plate. The frame is gold-finished metal and the shades are plastic.
How much room it takes and how low it hangs
The body measures 115 cm long and 70 cm wide — a figure to compare with the table top it is meant to hang over. Above a standard 75 cm dining table it covers almost the full width, so over a narrow table it will overhang the edges.
Maximum suspension height is 220 cm and it is reduced by shortening the cables, so the drop can be matched to the ceiling height. The plate is 42 × 24 cm and 4 cm thick, which covers an ordinary ceiling box. The shades are clear rather than opal, so the inside of the fixture stays visible with the light switched off.
Light colour and dimming
The LED source is permanently built in, draws 63 W and delivers 5665 lm. Colour temperature switches between 3000, 4500 and 6500 K — from warm yellowish to cool white — so the same lamp behaves differently over dinner and over work at the table. The light can also be dimmed.
The infrared remote is included; the two AAA batteries it runs on are not and have to be bought separately. The manufacturer states energy efficiency class F.
Installation and service
The fitting runs on 230 V mains and carries an IP20 rating, which confines it to dry interiors — it cannot hang over a bath or under an outdoor canopy. Screws and wall plugs for fixing the plate to the ceiling are not in the box; they are chosen to suit the ceiling material.
The manufacturer specifies that both the LED module and the driver are to be replaced by qualified service only. That changes how the lamp is owned: years from now, a replacement is not a matter of screwing in a new bulb.
