ROMAN 2472-18 is a hanging ring 55 cm across, formed into a softly twisted ribbon loop and finished in black. It lights with an integrated LED module of 32 W system power in a warm 3000 K, and the whole brightness range is controlled from an ordinary wall switch — no dimmer, no remote, no app.
4000 lm or 2350 lm? Both are true, and they mean different things
The manufacturer's data sheet gives two flux figures and they are easy to confuse. 4000 lm is the raw output of the LED module, measured at the diodes themselves. 2350 lm is the "effektiv Lumen" — the light that actually leaves the fitting after the diffuser and the ring optics. For planning the lighting of a room, the second number is the one that counts.
The difference matters: 2350 lm at 32 W is a real efficacy of about 73 lm/W, typical of a decorative ring fitting. Taking 4000 lm would give 125 lm/W — unattainable for this construction. In practice 2350 lm of warm light lights a dining room or bedroom of roughly 12–18 m² on its own; in a larger living room it is a strong central feature that wants side lighting alongside it.
Simply Dim: dimming without a dimmer
This is the most interesting thing about the lamp and it appears in no technical field. The Simply Dim driver responds to impulses from the existing switch — rocker, cord, pull, any of them. A short flick while the light is on starts a smooth sweep, and brightness moves steplessly from 100 % down to 10 %. No accessories to replace and no chasing a wall for a dimmer, which matters when fitting into a finished interior.
There is also a Memory function: set a brightness, switch off, and it comes back on at exactly the same level — even after the mains has been disconnected. No re-adjusting after every power cut.
Construction and installation
The body is steel, with plastic diffuser elements. Dimensions: Ø 550 mm, overall height up to 1200 mm — the suspension is shortened on installation to the height needed. Over a table, a 55 cm ring is usually hung so that its lower edge sits 65–80 cm above the top.
The fitting is protection class II — double insulated, and it needs no protective earth conductor, which simplifies installation in older two-core wiring. Supply 230 V, rating IP20: dry interiors only.
The LED module is integrated and is not changed like a bulb — the manufacturer lists it as a spare part (no. E0002032, 30 W / 4000 lm), so service is possible, but through an authorised channel rather than a lamp shop.

Worth knowing before you order
-
Plan around 2350 lm, not 4000 lm — the latter is the module alone.
-
Dimming works from any ordinary switch — a dimmer is neither needed nor advisable.
-
Class II — no protective conductor required.
-
The LED is integrated — years from now you replace a module, not a bulb.
-
IP20 — dry rooms only.
- The same series also offers gold Ø 55 cm and gold Ø 72 cm.
