The Prima wall light carries a white cotton shade shaped like a dome, cut flat on the wall side and open underneath. The shade sits on a polished chrome arm with a clear acrylic cup below it. A round chrome wall plate holds the whole fitting, and below the plate the arm tapers into a slim rod.
How much wall it takes up
The shade is 300 mm wide and 150 mm tall, while the whole fitting measures 450 mm — the rest of that height belongs to the arm and the rod running below the plate. It stands 160 mm off the wall, less than half the width of the shade, so it stays clear of the walking line even in a narrow hallway.
The fitting weighs 0.87 kg and the shipment 1.42 kg. At that weight the wall material decides the fixing, not the mass of the lamp.
The light it gives
The fitting takes one lamp with an E27 base rated up to 60 W. That figure is the ceiling for the bulb rather than the consumption of the fitting itself, so colour and brightness follow from the lamp you choose.
The cotton shade passes part of the light sideways and lifts the wall around the fitting, while the open bottom sends the stronger beam downwards onto whatever sits below it. The manufacturer states that the fitting is not built for dimming.
Build and wiring
Arm, lampholder and wall plate are metal finished in polished chrome. The only other structural material is the clear acrylic cup under the shade, which you can see straight through. The shade itself is textile, made of white cotton.
The manufacturer declares protection class I, which means the fitting has an earth terminal and needs an installation with an earth conductor. Older back boxes wired with two cores usually lack that conductor, so it is worth checking before you buy.
Where it works
The fitting is intended for the living room, bedroom and dining room, and for hotel and restaurant interiors. Its direction of light — down and onto the wall — places it beside a bed, beside a sofa or along a circulation route rather than as the only light in a room.
