Nordlux READ 14 is a small pendant light combining a white opal glass shade with metal components. The shade widens towards its lower opening, while a slender metal stem continues the line above it. Glossy white glass identifies this particular finish within the READ family.
Planning its position above a table
The shade measures 14 cm across. Compare that diameter with the width of your tabletop and the area you want to illuminate before choosing its position. Nordlux specifically suggests the pendant for a dining or kitchen table. Its small, single shade offers a different visual scale from a broad fitting with several arms.
The 18 cm height marked on the datasheet drawing covers the shade and its lower metal fitting, rather than the longer stem above it. The white cable is 180 cm long. Treat shade size and the distance from the ceiling as separate considerations when planning the suspension: cable length is not the height of the lamp body.
Choosing the light source and controls
READ 14 uses an E14 socket with a maximum bulb wattage of 40 W. This is the permitted limit for the selected bulb, not a fixed power-consumption figure for the pendant. A replaceable bulb lets you choose light output and colour temperature to suit the table and the other lighting in the room.
The manufacturer allows dimming with a compatible bulb. This does not establish that a dimmer is built into the fitting: the selected bulb and intended control arrangement must be compatible. The fixture operates at 230 V.
A restrained glass-and-metal design
The smooth shade, visible metal details and white cable form a simple composition without decorative branching. These features support Scandinavian, minimalist and classic interiors. In a living room, bedroom or restaurant, consider it for a selected area rather than assuming that one small pendant will light the whole room. Assess the required brightness using the chosen bulb and the remaining lighting, not the size of the shade alone.
