NUMINOS GIMBLE S is a round recessed ceiling downlight, black outside and in. The reflector head is gimbal-mounted inside the ring, so it still moves after installation. The ring is 10 cm across, the fitting is 7 cm deep and it weighs 0.213 kg.

The opening it needs

The fitting goes into a round cut-out 9 cm across, and 7 cm of clear space has to remain above the ceiling — two figures to check in a suspended ceiling before cutting. The 10 cm ring covers the edge of the cut-out, and the fitting is held by the spring clips visible at the sides of the body.

Where larger openings already exist, SLV offers 160/100 mm reducing rings in round and square versions, black and white, bought separately.

The driver is bought separately

This is a class III fitting running on 250 mA constant current, with no driver built in. A 10 cm lead with a low-voltage connector leaves the body, and the 250 mA driver is chosen from a separate list: SLV offers a basic version, a phase-dimmable one and a DALI one. Dimming is therefore decided by the driver, not by the fitting. One driver of sufficient wattage will run several fittings wired in series.

The light it gives and how it is aimed

The built-in LED module draws 8.6 W and delivers 690 lm in a 40-degree beam — from 2.5 m above the lit surface that is a pool about 1.8 m across. 3000 K is warm white, and Ra 90 means colours read almost as they do in daylight, which counts over a worktop, at a picture and in a display case. The glare rating UGR ≤ 19 sits inside the limit applied to screen-based workplaces.

The gimbal turns through 355 degrees and tilts through 60, so one fitting can be redirected from washing a wall to lighting a worktop without touching the ceiling cut-out. The manufacturer quotes L80B50 lifetime of 50,000 hours; the light source is not changed by the owner — a service technician does it. The fitting is for indoor use only. The form is modern and minimal: a flat black ring with no ornament and a black reflector interior that keeps visible glare down.
