The RENDL BELLA GU10 is a round recessed downlight, 8.3 cm across, in a white finish, rated IP65. It takes one GU10 lamp up to 15 W, running directly on 230 V mains.

Before you cut the hole: 6.8 cm in the board, but 14 cm above it

This is the figure to check before buying. The cut-out is Ø 6.8 cm, but the recess depth is 14 cm — fourteen centimetres of clear space must remain above the ceiling board, and that is before allowing room for the cable. The manufacturer itself warns that installation planning must account not only for the hole size but for the built-in depth together with the surrounding structural elements.

In practice that means BELLA will not fit a shallow suspended ceiling or a bulkhead above kitchen units. It needs a full-depth ceiling void. That is unusually deep for a fitting of this diameter — most GU10 downlights fit in 6–9 cm — and it is the one reason this model might not suit a particular ceiling.

IP65: for bathrooms and covered soffits

IP65 means fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. The fitting can therefore sit in the ceiling above a shower enclosure or bath, in a steamy room, and in the soffit of a covered terrace or arcade. The manufacturer classes it among bathroom fittings and drywall recessed spots.

GU10 socket — lamp bought separately

There is one GU10 socket and no lamp is included. GU10 runs directly on 230 V, so no transformer or driver is needed — which simplifies installation and costs less than a 12 V fitting. Maximum lamp power is 15 W; with LED sources that leaves plenty of choice — a 5 W LED at 3000 K covers general lighting, and something stronger suits a shower.

Dimming is possible but depends entirely on the lamp fitted: the luminaire has no control gear of its own, so a dimmable GU10 lamp and a wall dimmer are both needed, bought separately.

Build and variants

The fitting weighs just 176 g. The cut-out is round. The same model comes in four finishes: white (R13598), black (R13599), chrome (R13600) and matt nickel (R13601) — when fitting several in one room it is worth ordering them together to avoid batch differences.
