The Rendl Larisa R 40 3CCT is a round LED ceiling light shaped as a flat drum 40 cm across. The body has a pearl-gold finish and the whole underside is a flat white diffuser. The LEDs are built into the fitting, and a switch on the fitting selects one of three light colours: 3000 K, 4000 K or 6500 K.
Size and installation
At 40 cm in diameter the fitting is only 5.8 cm tall, so it sits close to the ceiling and takes almost no headroom from the room — an option wherever a pendant would get in the way. It weighs 0.77 kg. Compare the 40 cm diameter with the distance to the walls and to other fittings on the ceiling where you plan to mount it.
The light runs directly on 230 V mains and the LED driver is included, so there is nothing extra to buy. The manufacturer states that installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician and that the shade should be handled with care, as it is easily damaged.
How much light, and what colour
A luminous flux of 3750 lm at 50 W is main-lighting brightness rather than mood lighting — the fitting is intended as the primary light in a room. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is the usual level for general home lighting.
The colour is chosen with the switch on the fitting: 3000 K is warm white, 4000 K neutral, and 6500 K a cool, slightly bluish light close to daylight that suits focused work. One fitting therefore works in a bedroom as well as in a home office.
The LED source is integrated and included — there is no bulb to buy, but it also cannot be swapped like an ordinary bulb. The manufacturer quotes a lifetime of 20,000 hours, and the light source has energy efficiency class G.
Which rooms it suits
Rendl intends the Larisa R 40 for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hallways, children's rooms and offices. The form is modern and minimalist: a smooth, unadorned cylinder whose only accent is the pearl-gold colour of the body.
The same fitting is also made in white (R14360) and black (R14362), and the family includes the smaller Larisa R 30 3CCT.
