s.luce Orb Chandelier 12-light 160 cm clear glass white bar E27

The s.luce Orb in its 12-light version is a chandelier built from a 160 cm white metal bar and twelve hand-formed clear glass globes hanging beneath it on thin cables. The globes come in three diameters — 20, 30 and 40 cm — and hang at different heights, so the arrangement is deliberately not symmetrical.

How large it is and how it hangs

The bar measures 160 × 25 cm and is 4 cm thick, so the fitting occupies a strip more than a metre and a half long under the ceiling — the figure to compare with the length of the surface it will hang over. Maximum drop is 150 cm and is shortened by setting the cable lengths: over a table the bottom of the globes usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, and a dining table is around 75 cm high.

The fitting alone weighs 17 kg — the load the bar's ceiling fixing has to carry. The manufacturer supplies the chandelier ready for connection.

Two slots the globes slide along

The bar carries two lengthwise slots and each globe is fixed into them separately. The suspension points slide along the bar and each globe's height is set independently, so the arrangement follows the shape of the table instead of forcing a straight row. The manufacturer names one practical use: when the ceiling outlet is not directly above the table, the globes move sideways rather than the wiring.

Light source

The fitting has twelve E27 sockets and runs on 230 V. Bulbs are not supplied — twelve of them have to be bought separately, each no more than 40 W. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible through the whole globe and its look becomes part of the result: the manufacturer shows this model with decorative bulbs with an exposed filament.

Dimming is possible, but only with bulbs described as dimmable and a separate dimmer in the installation — the fitting carries no control of its own. Protection class I means the connection has to include an earth conductor.

Which room it is meant for

The manufacturer aims this model over the dining table and over a kitchen island. A white bar with clear glass is what the catalogue files as modern and minimalist: what shows is the structure and the globes themselves, without ornament or colour.
