Sandvik 1730AL is an outdoor wall light shaped as an upright cuboid, cast in aluminium and powder-coated light grey, RAL 9006. Light leaves through two sides — the top and bottom faces, closed with clear safety glass — so the fitting draws two beams on the wall, one upwards and one downwards.
Size and mounting
According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 21 cm high, 8 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall. The narrow body fits on a pillar, beside a door frame or between windows. It is fixed through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 97.5 mm apart. For mounting on the corner of a building the manufacturer offers corner bracket 148, sold separately.
The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the supply can be looped on to the next fitting with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one facade connect to a single line. The cable gland takes round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The fitting is protection class I and needs a cable with a protective earth.
Light source
The light has two GU10 lampholders for PAR16 LED lamps of up to 4 W each. No lamps are included: you choose the colour and brightness yourself, and a spent lamp is replaced by the user without calling a service. In the same housing Norlys offers version 1731 with two lamps supplied.
Half of the light goes upwards (ULOR 50%), so Sandvik is meant for lighting up a facade, not for places where light should not reach the sky.
Build and where to mount it
A silicone gasket and an EPDM gland seal the housing to IP65: the fitting is dust-tight and withstands water jets, so it can hang on a wall without a canopy. IK08 means increased impact resistance of the housing. The body is plain and smooth without decoration, and the manufacturer intends the light for private grounds as well as public areas.
