SARAVENA is a small cylinder 55 mm across and 110 mm tall, surface-mounted and throwing light in one direction – through a lens set into the opening at its lower end. The manufacturer's article code is LE71419. The body is black aluminium, closed at the top and finished with glass at the bottom, and the IP65 rating allows outdoor mounting.

Where it goes

This is a fitting for the ceiling – a roof soffit, the underside of a porch, a terrace or a garden shelter. The closed body and downward output mean the light falls vertically rather than spilling sideways: SARAVENA lights what is directly beneath it and creates no glow visible from a distance. At 230 lm from a single unit this is not general lighting but an accent – several fittings spaced at 1 to 1.5 m give a run of light along the soffit or mark an entrance.

IP65

IP65 means fully dust-tight and resistant to water jets from any direction. In practice the fitting will take rain driven up under the soffit, the facade being hosed down, and moisture condensing on a cold ceiling. The seal is made by the glass lens set in the ring at the bottom of the body.

The light

The built-in 3 W LED module delivers 230 lm at 3000 K. That is warm white – the tone associated with a classic incandescent lamp – so soffit timber, brick and stone keep their warm character instead of reading grey. The light source is integrated and included: there is no lamp to buy, but equally none that can be replaced by hand once it is spent.

Proportions

A cylinder 110 mm tall on only 55 mm of diameter is distinctly slim – it projects more than twice as far from the ceiling as it measures across. That is deliberate: the deep tube recesses the light source inside and limits glare when the fitting is viewed at an angle. Matt black on aluminium means the body disappears against a dark soffit when the light is off.
