SHAW is a rectangular wall lantern designed by Hinkley and distributed in Europe by Quintiesse, part of the Elstead group. The aluminium frame is black, with its edges and the central lamp bracket picked out in Burnished Bronze. Through the clear glass panels you can see two E27 sockets mounted one above the other on the bracket.
Size and where it goes
The lantern is 61 cm high and 15.9 cm wide and projects 17.1 cm from the wall — compare the height with the door or the stretch of facade it will hang beside. It weighs 4.23 kg. The manufacturer classes it as an exterior fitting, and the IP44 rating means it withstands splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer intends it for mounting on a facade.
It is a class I fitting running directly on 220–240 V mains: it is hard-wired into an installation with a protective earth, not plugged into a socket.
Bulbs and light
The fitting has two E27 sockets, each taking a bulb of up to 40 W. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself. The lantern has no dimmer of its own — it can be dimmed by using bulbs marked as dimmable together with a suitable dimmer in the installation. The glass is clear, so the shape of the bulb stays visible and becomes part of the look of the fitting.
Construction and style
The body is aluminium and the panels are clear glass. The manufacturer gives a 3-year anti-corrosion guarantee, which matters for aluminium that spends the whole year outdoors. The strong frame, two-tone finish and tall, narrow body draw on classic lanterns, so SHAW suits facades with a traditional character.
