The SLV NUMINOS CL DALI M is a surface-mounted ceiling light shaped as a matt black cylinder, 8.5 cm in diameter and 18.5 cm tall. Light leaves through the lower edge via a black conical ring, and the LED module is built into the aluminium and plastic body.

Dimensions and installation

The fitting projects 18.5 cm from the ceiling and covers a circle 8.5 cm across, so at an ordinary room height plenty of headroom remains. SLV intends the M size for surface mounting on a ceiling only, not on a wall. It weighs 0.726 kg.

Protection class I means a protective earth (PE) conductor must be brought to the fitting. The 220–240 V supply goes straight to the light and the control gear is built in, so no separate driver has to be bought.

How much light, and what colour

Drawing 13 W, the fitting delivers 1750 lm; SLV quotes an efficacy of 134.62 lm/W. At 2700 K the light is warm and slightly yellowish, close to a traditional bulb, and CRI 90 means colours look almost as they do in daylight. The 36° beam forms a distinct pool of light below the fitting, and a glare rating of UGR 16 limits dazzle when you look up.

The LED source is permanently built in; SLV states a life of 50,000 h and reserves replacement of the source for a qualified specialist.

DALI and Touch dimming

The light can be dimmed via DALI-2 or with the Touch function, meaning an ordinary non-latching push button. On the M size the terminal block has five terminals – N, PE, L plus D1 and D2 – so a pair of DALI control wires has to be run to the fitting in addition to the supply. Plan for that before the wiring goes in.

Where it fits

The smooth, unornamented cylinder is a modern, minimalist form. The focused warm beam works in a living room, over a kitchen worktop, in a hallway or a corridor – installed in several units, it sets a rhythm of light across the ceiling.
