NUMINOS MOVE DL XL is a recessed ceiling downlight 19 cm across, dropping into a round Ø17.5 cm cut-out. The "XL" marks the largest size in the NUMINOS family, and MOVE names this version's key feature: the reflector is rotatable and tiltable, so the beam can be aimed after installation.

Note: a separate driver is required

This is the most important thing to know before buying. The fitting is protection class III and runs on a 1050 mA constant current — it is not connected directly to 230 V. It needs an external constant-current LED driver at 1050 mA, and none is included. SLV specifies driver 1004071 for it (4.2–50 W, 1050 mA, DALI-capable). Without one the fitting will not work. The upside of this arrangement is that the driver can sit outside the suspended ceiling and run several fittings from one unit — but it has to be planned for and budgeted.

CRI 90 and UGR ≤ 19 — the two numbers that decide here

In recessed lighting for a shop, an office or a hotel, it is not lumens that matter but these two figures. CRI 90 means faithful colour rendering — fabrics, wood, food and skin tones look as they do in daylight, which a CRI 80 fitting will not deliver. UGR ≤ 19 is the threshold below which lighting counts as suitable for screen-based work — the fitting does not dazzle someone looking up, nor reflect distractingly in a monitor. Together with 2700 K that gives a boutique-and-hotel profile rather than an office one: warm, comfortable, colour-true.

3500 lm in a 40° beam

From 37.4 W the fitting produces 3500 lm, about 94 lm/W. The 40° angle is a medium-wide beam — from a 3 m ceiling it draws a circle roughly 2.2 m across on the floor. That is enough for one fitting to cover a display zone or a table, while several spaced 2–2.5 m apart give even light across a whole room. Distribution is symmetrical and emission direct.

Installation and cut-out

Recessing needs a round Ø17.5 cm opening and 13 cm of space above the ceiling — a fair amount, so measure the void above the plasterboard before buying. If the ceiling already has a larger hole from an older fitting, SLV offers 240/180 mm reducing rings (1006152 white, 1006151 black) to cover it. A frosted diffuser (1004800) is available to soften the beam, as is a Casambi module (1006454) for wireless control.

Longevity and operating conditions

The manufacturer declares 50,000 hours to the L80B50 standard — after that time at least half the fittings will retain at least 80% of their initial output. The ambient range is −20 to +40 °C and the photobiological risk group is 1. Impact resistance IK02 (0.2 J) is low — this is a ceiling fitting, out of reach. The IP20 rating confines it to dry interiors. The body is aluminium, the lens polycarbonate, the finish white. Warranty: 5 years.
