The Fish Trap M Rattan Lampshade for Pendant Lamp, Ø22 cm, E27

The Fish Trap M is a natural rattan lampshade shaped like an elongated cage that tapers towards the top, 22 cm across and 62 cm long. Vertical rattan rods are bound by more than a dozen horizontal rings, and a metal ring for hanging is fitted at the crown.

What is actually in the box

This is the shade alone. The manufacturer states outright that it is delivered without electrical fittings: no cord, no lampholder and no light source are included. The shade is made for a standard E27 fitting, which has to be bought separately along with the suspension and the bulb.

In practice that is one decision to make before buying: choose an E27 suspension whose length suits your ceiling height, because the drop depends entirely on that part and not on the shade.

How big it is and where to hang it

The body is narrow and long — 22 cm across against 62 cm of length — so it takes up little plan area but reaches far down. Over a dining table the bottom edge of a shade is usually hung 70–80 cm above the top, and at this length that has to be added to the suspension.

The openwork cage does not hide the light source: the bulb is visible through the gaps between the rods, and a pattern of light and shadow stripes falls on the wall and ceiling. For the same reason a frosted bulb is the safer choice — a clear one shines straight through the openings into your eyes.

Rattan, care and where it may hang

The shade is hand-woven from natural rattan in Indonesia, and the manufacturer notes that tone, weave and shape may vary slightly from piece to piece. It weighs 1.3 kg.

For cleaning the manufacturer prescribes wiping with a dry cloth. The piece is for indoor use only — the manufacturer states that outdoor use, even in covered areas, may damage the shade through humidity and is not covered by the warranty.
